WP2

September 29, 2010

Ali Tolga Sen (MSc in Geophysical Engineering, Technical University Istanbul, Turkey) has joined the MINE project. Tolga will work in WP2, on source characterization of microseismicity.

Kick-Off Workshop

November 10, 2010

The Kick-Off workshop of the MINE project was successfully held at the Institute of Geophysics, University of Hamburg. The workshop included an oral session and a plenary discussion with project partners and new collaborators.

Special Issue J. Seismology

December 1, 2010

Dr. Simone Cesca, Dr. Bernard Dost and Dr. Adrien Oth are pleased to announce a Special Issue on Journal of Seismology, which will be dedicated to Trigerred and Induced Seismicty. The main theme of the special issue is on analysis and modeling of triggered and induced seismicity at different spatial and temporal scales. The issue will comprise seismicity triggered and/or induced by human activities as well as by transient natural phenomena of non-tectonic origin. The submission deadline is fixed to May 31, 2011.

DGG 2011

21-24 February 2011

All researchers involved in the MINE project, as well as Mr. Alexander Rohr, who temporarily collaborate to the project, took part in the DGG Tagung, in Cologne, where the project presented 4 poster contributions.

EGU 2011

03-08 April 2011

Dr. Simone Cesca and MINE PhD students Mr. Francesco Grigoli, Mr. A. Tolga Sen and Ms. Samira Maghsoudi participated to the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, where the MINE project contributed with 4 poster presentations.

New collaboration, IGF-PAS

June 26, 2011

Dr. Simone Cesca and Mr. Ali Tolga Sen visited the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IGF PAS), in Warsaw, to a start a new collaboration (Dr. Beata Orlecka-Sikora, Prof. Dr. Stanislav Lasocki), which will focus on the analysis of source mechanisms at the Rudna copper mine, SW Poland. A 2 weeks stay of Mr. Sen at the Institute allowed to deepen the discussion on the seismicity at Rudna mine, and included a visit to the mine with Polish colleagues.

AG Seismologie 2011

27-29 September 2011

Mr. Francesco Grigoli and Mr. A. Tolga Sen presented latest results from the MINE project at the AG Seismologie meeting in Sankelmark, Germany. The MINE project contributed with two oral presentations.

DGG 2012

05-08 March 2012

The DGG conference was successfully organized by the Institute of Geophysics, University of Hamburg.

Dr. Simone Cesca and PhD students Mr. Francesco Grigoli, Mr. A. Tolga Sen and Ms. Samira Maghsoudi participated to the DGG conference and presented last results (three oral presentations, one poster).

EGU 2012

22-27 April 2012

The MINE project contributed to the convening of a session at the EGU General Assembly 2012. The session was devoted to the topic of Anthropogenic seismicity and seismic hazard: methods, observations and modeling.

The session collected 22 contributions, 12 talks and 10 posters, including different own contributions from researchers involved in the MINE.

at University Potsdam

1 July 2012

From July 1st, 2012, the MINE project has moved to the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences, at the University of Potsdam.

Dr. Simone Cesca can also be reached at GFZ Potsdam, Section 2.1

ESC 2012

19-24 August 2012

The MINE project has contributed with two oral communications to the 33rd General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission, in Moscow, Russia.
